Scarring

Common causes of scars include injury, surgery, infection or as the result of adolescent or adult acne. As scar tissue begins to form, it may appear red, raised, and hard, but over time it fades, flattens, and softens. The long-term visibility of the scar will be dependant on the type of injury, the depth of the wound, and the person's skin type. There are several treatments to help resurface the skin and reduce the appearance of scarring.
